About
Bianca is an early career researcher who completed her Bachelor of Public Health and Health Promotion (Hons) at Deakin University in 2020. During her honours year, she conducted a qualitative media analysis on the North Richmond medically supervised injecting room, leading to the publication of two articles from her research.
Since March 2022, Bianca has been working as a research assistant at the Burnet Institute, where she has contributed to multiple projects focused on injecting drug use. Additionally, she has been employed as casual academic at Deakin University, working on projects related to the use of image and performance-enhancing drugs.
In mid-2022, Bianca began her PhD as a recipient of the Deakin Burnet Research Partnership Scholarship. Her PhD project examines public amenity and drug consumption rooms. Recently, Bianca completed two years of structured observations in the area surrounding the North Richmond MSIR and conducted interviews with local residents and business owners. The next stage of her PhD will be to conduct interviews with people who inject drugs in North Richmond and their observations and opinions of public amenity in the area.
