About

Margot Peeters is Associate Professor at the Department of Youth in Changing Cultural Contexts at the University of Utrecht. Peeters completed her PhD (Cum Laude) in adolescent development and substance use at the University of Utrecht. In her current work, Peeters investigates the development of risk behavior during adolescence including substance use, (problematic) gaming, externalising behaviour and school absenteeism. She is particularly interested in the interaction between individual differences and the influence of social contexts (peers, educational level, school context) on the development of risk behaviour. Her research focuses on young people’s perspectives and tries to bridge science and practice through participatory research methods.
