About

Ulrike Möntmann is a visual artist and researcher, living and working in Amsterdam and Vienna. With a consistent focus on the living conditions of drug-addicted, incarcerated women, she realises multi-year projects in collaboration with female inmates and partners from the arts and sciences. Möntmanns work highlights the stigmas surrounding female drug addicts by uncovering systemic societal errors, while simultaneously investigating the abilities of arts-based research as a medium. U.M. is currently in the process of attaining habilitation at the Peter-Weibel-Research Institute for Digital Cultures in Vienna.
