Drug related interventions in European prisons: provision, available evidence, gaps
Abstract
The presentation will provide an overview of the latest available data on drug related interventions in prisons in Europe. Interventions offered to prisoners in the European countries include: detoxification, individual and group counselling, treatment in therapeutic communities and in special inpatient wards. OST is now formally available in 29 countries and other harm reduction measures are also available. Despite improving in the last period, the level of coverage of drug related interventions and harm reduction measures in prison remains low and information gap on level of provision are important.
