About

Harm reduction has become an accepted public health model in opioid use disorder, with methadone maintenance, needle exchange programmes, injecting rooms, take-home naloxone kits being adopted in a number of countries as a way of reducing harms to opiate users and others. Tobacco use causes much greater harm to individuals and society but harm reduction approaches remain highly controversial. This symposium will explore the various facets of tobacco harm reduction and consider the opportunities and challenges facing this approach.
