About

A panel of high profile international experts who will speculate on addiction futures and their social and policy effects as well as implications for research. The session will draw on different methods, disciplines and data, from modelling, epidemiology, history, and the social sciences. Speakers will work speculatively to consider what ‘drugs’ and ‘addictions’ might become as well as the addiction futures that might be made possible. Taken together, they will explore the effects of developments and potentials in relation biotechnology, digital and social media technology, policy reform, social and cultural practices, and research methods. This major session will feed into a guest-edited published collection of papers on Speculative addictions.
