About

Dr Gallimberti is a psychiatrist and toxicologist currently serving as the Head of the Addictions Unit at Villa Maria Clinic Hospital in Padua, Italy. He is also an adjunct Professor at University of Padua, Italy, and the President of the non-profit Novella Fronda Foundation. He was the Head of the Addiction Medicine Unit at University General Hospital in Padua and the Head of the Clinical Unit of Center of Behavioral and Forensic Toxicology at University of Padua, Italy. He has more than 30 years’ experience on health, drugs and alcohol issues and since 1980 he has held management positions in public administration. Over the years he has been involved in several programs and clinical trials for the treatment of addiction. Amongst them, he was a coordinator in the pivotal study on the efficacy of Gamma-hydroxybutyric acid in extinguishing the desire to drink alcohol. More recently he is interested in developing a holistic approach to the treatment of patients with addiction including the use of non-invasive brain stimulation, such as the Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). Currently he is involved in several randomized clinical trials investigating the effects of TMS in the treatment of Gambling Disorder and Cocaine Use Disorder. He is author of several peer reviewed publications in national and international scientific journals and edited several books.
