European initiatives on training: a cumulative experience
Abstract
The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction was on the advisory board of several European Funded projects about prevention, including the development of training materials and the delivery of training for professionals. It now offers a registry of implemented and validated prevention programmes (X-change), a curriculum for prevention (EUPC) and a Training of Trainers Programme, including an e-learning platform and a Virtual Community of Practice (PLATO). The first presentation will outline the different initiatives and their common objective.
The EMCDDA has provided sustainability to the outputs of those projects and bridged the contents with other international organizations’ initiatives to support the practice of evidence-based prevention programmes in Europe. Working in a network and fostering synergies is the aim of the EMCDDA to better support practice and promote a hub of knowledge sharing.
