Abstract

The 'Fiches Exper’' are didactic sheets written by and intended to be used by people who use drugs (PWUD) and harm reduction (HR) professionals. They are clear, concise, and complete. The aim of the sheets is to complete the range of existing and training HR tools in France. They compile and explain in a playful and educational way the HR equipment for different types of use.

Each sheet presents one tool. Each sheet is divided into 4 parts: What?, How?, Why?, More information. They are available in two formats: paper and digital (accessible via a QR code). The first set of sheets is dedicated to injection equipment. To assess the relevance of the tool and its acceptance, a first prototype was sent by post in 2021, with a questionnaire. The questionnaires were returned anonymously by post or by e-mail.

The ‘Fiches Exper’' were evaluated by 48 people from 11 different regions in France: 52% of PWUD, 42% of HR professionals and 4% both PWUD and HR professionals evaluated the sheets. 43% were women and 52% were men. Among PWUD, the vast majority was PWID (85%), and a majority were using drugs for more than 15 years.

No pharmaceutical grants were received in the development of this study. This work was supported by the French addiction national fund. To the question 'What is your opinion on the content of the sheets?' 100% of people answered good and very good and 94% would recommend the tool to someone else. 50% intend to use them for themselves and 65% would use the sheets with users in the context of their work or not. The feedbacks on the content of the sheets as well as on the design were very good for most of the respondents. The latter considered the sheets relevant, educational, precise, and well-detailed. The simple and practical format would enrich the discussion with PWUD and facilitate the exchanges with HR professionals.
