Beyond gambling disorder and gaming disorder, problematic pornography use, problematic social-networks use, problematic buying-shopping behavior, exercise addiction, work addiction, hypersexual behavior and other problematic behaviors are also considered as potential addictive behaviors. This major session discusses the convergence between these potential behavioral addictions focusing on different aspects including (i) psychological models, theories, and risk factors (e.g., negative early childhood experiences, stress vulnerability, dysfunctional coping styles, problems related to emotion regulation, self-control, co-morbid disorders); (ii) neurobiological models and their clinical implications; (iii) treatment approaches and their effectiveness; and (iv) policy implications.
