About
People who inject drugs are at increased risk of overdose, blood-borne viruses and overall poorer health. But the risks and harms are preventable with the right help at the right time and place. This session will explore the obstacles and opportunities to reduce harm. Presentations will describe overdose, hepatitis, high smoking rates and mortality among drug users and preventative measures including naloxone provision, needle and syringe exchange, supervised and safe consumption services and the potential of wearable technology to detect and respond to an opioid overdose.
