Scenarios are a foresight approach that offers a way to consider alternative pathways and reflection on possible upcoming developments. They can be used to build anticipatory capacity and increase our preparedness for the future.
This session will explore three alternative scenarios on Addictions Futures for 2040 developed by the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addictions (EMCDDA) using the key factor-based methodology.
During the interactive session participants will be introduced to the future scenarios and invited to share their insights on what changes the different scenarios could bring to the drugs and addictions field, before reflecting on potential implications for drug situations, related responses, and drug monitoring. The results of the session will contribute to the EMCDDA's scenarios-building exercise while offering everyone an “experience of the future”.
