The Spanish Network on Research on Primary Attention on Addiction (RIAPAd): a new multilevel integrated model of responsible research on Addiction Disorders

The present symposium presents the main axis of RIAPAd, the Spain Network for Research on Primary Health in Addiction. This Research network is the evolution of a previous Spain’s Networking fo nearly 20 years in cooperative and translational research in Addiction. RIAPAd has been adapted according to the new challenges of addiction diseases related to substances and behaviours and COVID-19 pandemia. Present and next future in addiction imply changes in substances of abuse (i.e. alcohol, benzodiazepines, new synthetics drugs coming from new illicit labs located in EU…), an increase of behavioural addictions (i.e. gambling, use of the Internet or videogames…), new indicators of substance use (i.e.detection in wastewater..). Furthermore, with the COVID-19 pandemia, new needs in diagnoses and treatments changes have been highlighted. Among them is the need to increase the availability and accesibility of treatments (i.e develop more e-healths, long-lasting medications,… ) and patients' opinion to improve the effectiveness of treatments.
