Successful systemic management for addiction challenges and all its side effects
About
The city of Zurich uses the national four-pillar drug policy. Within that framework many different organisations and services address the needs of its diverse clientele. The focus of the individual organizations is on the topics of illegal drug use, alcohol consumption and sex work. What they all have in common is a confrontation with homelessness, mental health and marginalization, which is why interdisciplinary cooperation is indispensable. We want to show Zurich's close network of services that reaches every person offering counselling, treatment as well as covering basic needs. Systemic interventions that take place in different institutions or that involve different stakeholders, using low-threshold communication and agreements, shows to be especially valuable during turbulent times such as the Covid-19 pandemic. With projects that include all relevant parties we stay up-to-date and are able to react to new trends quickly. We want to present the different parts of this model fit together. By means of case studies and the presentation of various key players on the Zurich pitch, the status quo and, in particular, the challenges for the future will be highlighted. In the context of a networked presentation, the individual organizations will be presented and their cooperation will be shown. Therefore, the topic of discussion remains the same throughout the different presentations. The city of Zurich uses the national four-pillar drug policy.
