Dr. Agwogie is the Founder/Executive Director, Global Initiative on Substance Abuse (GISA), the focal point for UPC in Nigeria. He is the National Coordinator of UPC in Nigeria and an expert contributor to the UNODC-WHO International Standards on Drug Use Prevention. He is a Global trainer in Drug Demand Reduction, a UNODC Master trainer, a UPC and UTC National trainer and an award recipient for Excellence in Drug Demand Reduction by the International Society of Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Professionals (ISSUP) in 2018 among other local and international recognitions and positions.
He is a visiting lecturer and consultant in drug demand reduction to a number of universities and higher institutions. He earned a Ph.D. and M.Ed in Psychology from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria, MBA in Human Resource Management from the National Open University of Nigeria, Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital Management from University of Lagos, Nigeria among other academic and professional qualifications. He is a Fulbright Scholar (Hubert Humphrey Fellow) in Substance Abuse Prevention, Treatment and Policy, Virginia Commonwealth University, United States. He is a certified addiction professional (ICAP 11) and an author of many books on substance abuse prevention and management.
Dr. Agwogie has over 25years experience in the field of drug control particularly in the area of drug demand reduction where he engaged in curriculum development, capacity building, research, contribution to drug policies among others. Part of his engagement was with the federal government of Nigeria where he served in different capacities.
