ACCS complexity of care provision

Thursday, 24 October, 2024 - 15:00 to 16:30

The availability of multiple clinical specialities within the acute hospital setting has allowed for the development of distinct clinical pathways that highlight the range of complex presentations relevant to addictions care. This talk will presentation multiple illustrative case studies including management of complex withdrawal syndromes from gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) and alcohol, collaboration with obstetric and midwifery for patients who are pregnant, as well as facilitating complex transitions in opioid substitution therapy (OST) treatment (e.g. buprenorphine micro induction) to highlight how the ACCS model can provide care that would be challenging to address in less intensive settings outside a tertiary level acute hospital.
