"How generational transmissions can shape life?" Evaluation of a genogram group therapy for people with ACoA syndrome
Abstract
The qualitative study used an individual interview technique with a standardized list of information sought (semi-structured).
The study (evaluation) was conducted at the end of the group therapy program for people with ACoA. The group was consisted of 10 women, aged 29 – 64. The whole process lasted 9 months; genogram sessions were held once a month and lasted for 2 days. Each participant had one day to present her genogram, which she had already prepared at home. The work was divided into two stages - the first was to present the genogram to the group and collect feedback, the next was intended to establish relationships in the family system.
Dispositions prepared for the interviews touched on the issues of changes in three areas of life - intrapsychic functioning, interpersonal functioning and functioning in important social roles. It was decided to separate these areas after a literature review based on the proposal of Lambert et al. (2001).
