Innovation in caring for individuals experiencing polydrug use disorder: opportunities to understand multi-morbidities
Introduction: Individuals with polydrug use diosrder especially opioid, benzodiazepine and cannabis use disorder, is still the main presenting condition in European addiction and/or mental health services. Recent innovation in this field will provide insight and empower service providers to understand and embrace how complex systems operate. In doing so service will be able to support better individuals with concommittant psychological and physiocal conditions as well as psychoactive use disorder.
Method: This talk will present novel narratives in the fields of human right based standards, effective novel pharmacology and delivery systems, neuroscience based interventions and finally implementation and system science.
Results and discussions: This presentation will be part of the EMCDDA organised session entitled: Mental health and substance use. The above domains will allow a landscape that is less stigmatising and better in responding to the needs of individuals presenting with multi disadvantages, multi morbidities and increased risk of mortality.
