PIQAT: Program for International Quality Assurance in Treatment
Abstract
PIQAT, Program for International Quality Assurance in Treatment Program, will be presented. The Program is a collaborative initiative that brings together three international organizations: The Colombo Plan, UNODC and OEA-CICAD. Its primary objective is to enhance the quality and capacity of treatment systems and services for individuals with substance use disorders. This is achieved through the standardization of resources and processes of technical collaboration among these international agencies.
To accomplish its goals, PIQAT has outlined a series of steps designed to guide the initiation of technical assistance with countries based on the development level of their treatment care systems and services. These steps encompass various aspects such as raising awareness, providing training, facilitating implementation, monitoring progress, and conducting evaluations of the processes involved.
Through ICQ and PIQAT, quality and quality assurance in a country's systems of care and services are embedded and sustained through continuous quality improvement processes as reflected in International standards.
