PROFAN effect :coexistence between knowledge and people in harm reduction practices
Background
The PROFAN (Prevent and Reduce Overdoses – Training and Access to Naloxone) team will present its opioid overdose prevention and fatality reduction training program delivered by peers and experienced practitioners in collaboration with project VLE (Valorize Lived Experience), a project that focuses on the global valorization of People With Lived and Living Experience or Expertise (PWLLE) in the harm reduction field. The understanding of dynamic interrelations between knowledges will be illustrated through concrete examples describing the reality of knowledge coexistence invested in each stage of PROFAN, as well as the cohabitation in living environments of people with diverse substance use experiences and different professional postures.
Methods
A series of discussions in small and big groups will be moderated by animators. Beyond the above content, participants will be invited to share their own examples and realities. Sensitive ethical and deontological areas like confidentiality, substance use, identity and roles will be covered as well.
- Identify strategies that can be implemented both during the event and in their practice to promote and invest a harmonious knowledge coexistence and cohabitation between people with diverse backgrounds.
- Shed light on the challenges of cohabitation between people with diverse backgrounds and knowledges.
- Promoting strategies for harmonious coexistence and cohabitation between people with diverse backgrounds while exercising their roles and responsibilities.
