Abstract

Professional satisfaction is a dimension of workers' well-being and balance. Thus, within the scope of the Burnout and Involvement investigation in healthcare professionals at Addictive Behavior and Dependencies in the North of Portugal, suggestions for improvement were collected, as well as the indication of satisfaction and discontent factors with work.
The questions were open-ended. The professionals had the freedom to express their opinions in these different dimensions.
The responses collected were coded using a grid constructed for this purpose and then worked on in the QDA Miner Lite V 3.0 program.
Factors such as professional development, leadership, interpersonal relationships, promotion of the well-being and health of professionals, human resources, and remuneration, among others, were listed as suggestions for improvement. Leadership,  interpersonal relationships, recognition, and professional appreciation were dimensions mentioned about job discontentment. Lastly, leadership, interpersonal relationships, and autonomy were the factors that stood out most in the issue related to job satisfaction.
The present work aims to quantify these results, seeking to identify the most consensual factors in each of the dimensions considered. The conclusions of this study may support some suggestions for changes in services.
