Alcohol and gender issues

The session highlights the importance of gender issues in Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD), providing insights on terminology, methodology, and recovery and treatment tailored to different gender perspectives, including male, female, and LGBTQ+. Contributions include an exploration of drinking motives and alcohol consumption within the UK LGBTQ+ population. Another presentation illustrates women's alcohol treatment experiences through participant drawings, shedding light on the recovery journey. The implications of sex and gender differences in alcohol cue-reactivity for treatment strategies are investigated. Additionally, a systematic review examines how gender and sex are measured and reported in alcohol treatment research, emphasizing the need for inclusive approaches.
