About
This session addresses the treatment and healthcare needs of individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD) and explores various opioid agonist treatments (OAT) and heroin-assisted treatment (HAT). Topics include the cost-effectiveness of expanding OAT in Norway, patient experiences with different administration routes of heroin in HAT, and the barriers and facilitators to implementing Scotland’s first HAT service. Additionally, one study examines changes in in-patient healthcare utilisation before and after entering OAT, showing reduced demand for mental and somatic health services after treatment.
