About

The seminar examines the role of biomarkers in predicting various negative outcomes related to alcohol use, including dementia, injuries, and brain damage, emphasizing the significance of markers like phosphatidylethanol (PEth) and metabolomics. Contributions include a discussion on neurobiological markers of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and their implications for prevention and treatment strategies. Another presentation focuses on identifying harmful alcohol use using specific phosphatidyl ethanol profiles in patients with severe injuries. Preliminary data will be shared on plasma biomarkers for predicting and preventing alcohol-associated dementia risks. Lastly, the impact of alcohol and affective social cues on emotional contagion is explored, highlighting the social consequences of alcohol consumption. Biomarkers may predict dementia, injuries, brain damage and social consequences of alcohol be it PEth or metabolomics.
