About

Elena is a public health technical officer and researcher at the Sub-Directorate General for Addictions, HIV, STIs and Viral Hepatitis, and recently designed WHO Collaborating Centre on Substance Use, Non-Communicable Diseases and Policy Impact, in the Public Health Agency of Catalonia (ASPCAT). She holds a BSc in Medical Biosciences (from Imperial College London, 2021), and a master’s in Public Health (from Pompeu Fabra University - Autonomous University of Barcelona, 2023).

Elena joined ASPCAT to work on two portfolios: to continue work on alcohol health policy research as part of the Catalan Drugs Observatory; and as a technical officer, monitoring and designing the indicators to track Catalonia’s progress towards viral hepatitis elimination, through programmes targeting vulnerable populations.

She is also a member of the Early Career Researchers Network of the WHO/Europe Evidence into Action Alcohol Project (EVID-ACTION).
