About
François is working as a research and policy advisor for the Canadian Center on Substance Use and Addictions, a federal statutory organization, since February 2024. For the last previous 17 years he had worked at the Institute national de santé publique du Québec in a similar role. He specializes in public policy, developping research and suggesting courses of action that aim to protect public health and safety. His work concerns products available to the public at large (alcohol, cannabis, gambling and tobacco and nicotine liquids) as well as those restricted to medical and scientific purposes (psychedelics, opioids, etc,). He has notably been involved in cannabis legalization in Québec and Canada since 2016, supporting health authorities’ decisions about the laws and their implementation and conducting research on associated policies and outcomes.
