About

Dr Thomas Martinelli is an anthropologist and criminologist with a special interest in drug-related topics and qualitative research. In 2023 he obtained his PhD for research into the concept of recovery from drug addiction. Thanks to his broad interests, Thomas easily delves into various issues. He draws up and implements research approaches – from quantitative to qualitative (policy) research. He presents his research by writing about it in reports, scientific journals, blogs and opinion pieces in the newspaper. And by speaking about it in (guest) lectures, workshops or symposia. At the Trimbos Institute he is a scientific employee in the Program Drugs Monitoring & Policy and is part of the Harm Reduction Network. His interests include research into drugs in detention and the development and analysis of (international) drug policy.
