About

My name is Amaia Garrido, I finished my medical degree and subsequent residency in family and community medicine in 2010 in Catalonia and then worked as a doctor for several years in the Basque Country and Catalonia. Throughout that time I became increasingly interested in public health as another perspective from which to work in health and I completed a master's degree in Public Health at the University of the Basque Country. Currently, and for the last 6 years, I have been working as a public health technician in the Department of Prevention and Care for Drug Dependency of the Public Health Agency of Barcelona (ASPB). Some of my functions are to provide technical support to develop and implement harm reduction programmes and services in the city of Barcelona, as well as to implement the gender perspective in these services.
