About

Anja, Programme Officer at UNODC PTRS, coordinates UNODC’s global projects on drug dependence treatment and care, including the UNODC-WHO Programme on Drug Dependence Treatment and Care, as part of UNODC’s Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation Section. She is a Psychology graduate (University of Berlin, Germany) with further training in Public Health (Medical School Hanover, Germany), Systemic Psychotherapy and Media Pedagogics.

The global projects on treatment of drug use disorders support UN Member States in all regions in their efforts to improve accessibility and quality of drug use disorder treatment and care services through technical assistance on the development of data collection systems, service improvement, capacity building and policy development. Anja has furthermore contributed to the development and dissemination of numerous UNODC technical guidance documents, including the UNODC-WHO International Standards for the Treatment of Drug Use Disorders (2020) and the UNODC-WHO Handbook on Treatment and Care for People with Drug Use Disorders in Contact with the Criminal Justice System: Alternatives to Conviction or Punishment (2019), the Discussion Paper: Treatment of Stimulant Use Disorders: Current Practices and Promising Perspectives (2019). Currently, Anja is leading UNODC’s new initiative, #ScaleUp, to explore and implement scalable interventions for the treatment and care of stimulant use disorders.
