About

Currently working as a specialist in drug-related issues and a community researcher at the Grupo de Ativistas em Tratamentos (GAT) in Lisbon, she has over 20 years of experience in the field of drugs. For the past 10 years, she has focused on developing and implementing harm reduction interventions for high-risk drug users, specializing in overdose prevention, distribution of safer consumption materials, health education, and supervised consumption rooms. She was involved in implementing supervised consumption programs in Lisbon (2017-2022) and represented GAT at the European Commission's Civil Society Forum on Drugs (2018-2021). She also coordinated community research projects and has been actively involved in activism for better drug policies in Portugal.

More recently, under a KAC fellowship, she started addressing tobacco use with a harm reduction approach, working with populations who use drugs and/or are experiencing homelessness. She holds degrees in Psychology and Public Health, with a strong commitment to advocating for the rights and health of drug users.
