About

Ilkka OJANPERÄ is professor of Forensic Toxicology (2011-) and Head in the Department of Forensic Medicine (2015-), University of Helsinki; and Chief Specialist, Forensic Toxicology Unit, Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (2016-). His research program is focused broadly on analytical toxicology and forensic science, currently on the epidemiology of drug abuse and poisoning. He has published 200 articles and book chapters, achieving an H-index of 43 (Scopus), and presented frequently at international meetings. He has served as an expert witness in several criminal cases in the court of justice. He was a member of the EMCDDA Scientific Committee 2020–2024. He is a board member of the Finnish Foundation for Alcohol Studies (2021-) and the Regional Representative of The International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT) in Finland. In 2023, he was given the most prestigious award of TIAFT, the Alan Curry Award.
