About
Irena Molnar is a prominent advocate in the field of harm reduction and drug policy reform, with more than a decade of experience across public and civil society sectors. As the Executive Director and co-founder of NGO Re Generation, a community-based organization in Serbia, she has been instrumental in designing and implementing harm reduction programs. Her work spans nightlife settings, youth engagement, and the development of initiatives to prevent and answer to gender-based violence (GBV) for women who use drugs. Drawing from her academic background in Social Anthropology from the University of Belgrade, Irena's research focuses on the social dynamics of substance use and how it intersects with broader cultural, identity, and public health issues.
Beyond her role at Re Generation, Irena serves as Program Development Manager at the Institute of Philosophy and Social Theory (IFDT), where she oversees fellowship programs and coordinates multiple projects aimed at fostering intellectual and social dialogue. She is also active on the international stage, contributing to key networks as a member of the Steering Committee of the EHRA and the Advisory Committee of C-EHRN, where she represents and advocates for the sustainability of harm reduction programs across Southeast Europe. As an educator, mentor, and researcher, Irena is dedicated to exploring innovative approaches to raising awareness about substance use, improving education on the topic, and promoting meaningful drug policy reform. Her work continues to drive forward solutions that address the complexities of substance use in society.
