Marie Claire Cucciardi is a dedicated and accomplished nurse, currently serving as a Charge Nurse at the Substance Misuse Outpatients Unit (SMOPU) in Malta. With a career spanning over a decade, Marie Claire has developed a profound expertise in various nursing specialties, underscored by her commitment to patient-centered care and professional growth.
Marie Claire began her academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Malta, where she developed a solid foundation in clinical practice and healthcare management. Her passion for providing comprehensive and holistic care led her to pursue a Master’s degree in Integrative Health and Social Care from the University of Derby, further enriching her ability to address complex patient needs.
Her professional experience is both diverse and extensive. Marie Claire spent the initial two years of her career in a Male Medical Ward, where she developed her skills in acute care, followed by four years at the Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) at Mater Dei Hospital, Malta's leading healthcare facility. During her time at the ITU, she gained invaluable experience in critical care, managing patients with severe and life-threatening conditions.
In 2017, Marie Claire transitioned to the Substance Misuse Outpatients Unit, where she has been a pivotal figure ever since. As a Charge Nurse, she plays a crucial role in overseeing daily operations, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care. Her work in this unit reflects her deep understanding of the complexities of substance misuse and her dedication to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery.
