About

Nusa Segrec, MD, PhD, is the psychiatrist working in the National Centre for the Treatment of Drug Addiction at University Psychiatric Clinic in Ljubljana, Slovenia, EU. Her primary clinical work and research is focused on treatment of patients with dual disorders/complex needs – people, who use drugs with comorbid mental disorders. She is also one of the active members of Coordination of Centres for the Prevention and Treatment of Drug Addiction at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia. She is assistant at Department for Psychiatry at Faculty of Medicine at University of Ljubljana. Her PhD research was on sexual dysfunction among men in opioid addiction treatment programmes.

She has been involved as a trainer in trainings for developing services for drug users in community and prison environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina (supported by United Nations Development Program), Montenegro and Kosovo (supported by Global Fund), generally, in the area of opioid agonist treatment and for patients with comorbidities; and as a trainer for improving mental health programs in prisons in Turkey and Armenia, organised by Council of Europe.

She has received Fellowship Award of The Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2017.
