Sophie is a PhD candidate in Criminology at the University of Manchester conducting research on Canada's drug policy, specifically the legalization of non-medical cannabis and its public health approach to drug use. Her research is supported in part by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of Canada and the University of Manchester. Prior to her PhD, Sophie worked in policy as a public servant with the Government of Canada. She has also contributed to research on drug economies at leading research institutes, including the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in London and the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA) in Ottawa
