Understanding the interplay between cultural, biological and subjective factors in drug use pathways
Abstract
Use and misuse of illicit drugs is influenced both by factors related to the individual and to factors in the environment. In order to understand the pathways resulting in problematic use of illicit drugs, it is crucial to have access to data that describes the earlier parts of the pathways, both in terms of person-variables and in terms of environmental influences. The present project is in a unique position to do so, extending the so far largest genetically informed longitudinal study with neuroimaging data worldwide with focused rich data describing pathways into illicit drug use, assessed at age 22/23.
