Dr. Niamh Fitzgerald is President of the International Confederation of Alcohol, tobacco, and other drug Research Associations (ICARA) and a Senior Lecturer in Alcohol Studies at the Institute for Social Marketing, University of Stirling, Scotland. Niamh is an interdisciplinary policy researcher currently leading studies of alcohol premises licensing, minimum unit pricing, drink-driving limits, and screening for drinking in pregnancy. Niamh has been involved in several initiatives and debates relating to governance of conflicts of interest – in international research associations, in university policy, and in government funded-research – and has co-authored new guidelines from ICARA for research associations.
