Scenarios for the future of addictions fields by 2040

Scenarios are a foresight approach that offers a way to consider alternative pathways and reflection on possible upcoming developments. They can be used to build anticipatory capacity and increase our preparedness for the future. This session will explore alternative scenarios on drug and addictions in the EU to 2040 developed by the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA) using the key factor-based methodology.

During the interactive session participants will be introduced to the future scenarios and invited to share their insights on what changes the different scenarios could bring to the drugs and addictions field, before reflecting on what these changes could mean for key stakeholders in 2040. The results of the session will contribute to the EUDA's framework scenarios (to be finalised in 2024) while offering everyone an “experience of the future”.
