About

This workshop will review work carried out with the WAVE Working Group to explore professionals' attitudes towards the use of AI in addiction. It will cover opinions on opportunities for AI in the addiction field and needs to be addressed; current applications, barriers and challenges; and discussing ethical issues, such as privacy, autonomy, biases, and accessibility.
To provide a comprehensive framework, the methodology will incorporate a SWOT analysis, allowing us to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats associated with AI integration in this context. The introduction will feature a showcase of successful applications of AI in addiction treatment and research, alongside a state-of-the-art review that highlights emerging trends and key challenges. Our focus will be on training, research, and service provision, ensuring that we not only understand the current landscape but also develop actionable recommendations for enhancing professional practices in the field.
The activity needs to start on time, as some organizational aspects of the workshop must be addressed before it formally begins. Space is limited, so please arrive early, as attendance will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
