Public health implications of legalising the production and sale of cannabis for medicinal and recreational use

This paper summarises evidence for medicinal uses of opioids, and harms related to the extra-medical use of these drugs. We also summarise the evidence for a wide range of interventions to address harms related to extra-medical opioid use. Finally, we use mathematical modelling to explore the overall health benefits of drug treatment, in a range of settings with varying levels of opioid use and harms related to extra-medical use.
