4. Harm Reduction and Covid 19: Hostel 'IONIS', an example of a holistic intervention for homeless drug users

A brief presentation on how the Municipality of Athens successfully addressed the problem of homeless drug users during the covid-19 pandemic.

All reported data were collected from hostel IONIS from April 2020 to December 2021.

The coexistence of political will, cooperation between public and civil society organizations, as well as the coordination of common, well-designed interventions are the key factors that could turn a crisis into an opportunity to solve chronic problems.

Hostel IONIS points the way to policymakers, but this is only the 'first step'. Μore steps need to be taken.
