Strategic approach to service prioritization and resource allocation

Wednesday, 23 November, 2022 - 16:50 to 18:20

Abstract

Needs-based planning models offer an evidence-based, strategic approach to service prioritization and resource allocation. In order to replace other ingrained approaches (advocacy or lobby-driven, utilization-based, etc.) they need to get buy-in from decision-makers and administrators. In order to achieve both flexibility and standardization, model developers need to engage stakeholders in pilot testing and promote ownership while retaining a measure of fidelity to the original evidence=based input and output. The discussion will seek to characterize the pros and cons of previous approaches used to warrant sustainability and dissemination of the model, and seek to identify “best practices” for sustainability and uptake
