Insights into acute recreational drug and new psychoactive substance toxicity – an update from the Euro-DEN Plus Project
About
The European Drug Emergencies Network Plus [Euro-DEN Plus] was established in 2013 and uses a sentinel centre model to collect data on acute toxicity related to the use of recreational drugs, prescription medicines and new psychoactive substances (NPS). This provides a unique insight into the acute harms associated with the use of recreational drugs/NPS and misuse of prescription medicines in Europe. This symposium will provide an update from the Euro-DEN Plus project on important aspects of acute drug toxicity in Europe with specific presentations relating to NPS toxicity, the influence of age and gender on the drugs involved in acute toxicity presentations, the influence of ethanol as a co-ingestant in acute toxicity presentations and on fatalities within the Euro-DEN dataset.
