Prescription opioids and overdose deaths
About
In recent years a main feature of overdose deaths has been an increasing heterogeneity of background characteristics and causes of overdose deaths. This symposium aims to highlight different types of overdose deaths with a particular focus on prescription opioids. This includes a particular focus on intentional overdose deaths and mental and somatic health as contributing factors where prescription opioids are involved. The symposium aims to describe a range of different vulnerable populations at elevated overdose risk where prescription opioids are involved. The goal will be to improve participants’ understanding of risk factors and hence advance targeted prevention to reduce future prescription opioids related overdose deaths. 4 separate abstracts forming the main body of this suggested structured session/workshop is attached.
