About
Marcin Wojnar, M.D., Ph.D. is a Professor of Psychiatry and the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, Medical University of Warsaw, Poland. He holds also a position of an Adjunct Professor at the University of Michigan Department of Psychiatry in Ann Arbor, MI, USA. Since 2019 he is the Dean of Medical School at the Medical University of Warsaw.
Dr. Wojnar is a graduate of the Medical University of Warsaw in 1988. He received doctoral degree based on his research in clinical psychiatry and addictions in 1997. In 2002-2003 and 2007-2008 he had been two times a Research Fellow in the Fogarty International Center/NIDA & NIAAA sponsored programs: Substance Abuse Research Training Program and Alcohol & Injury Research Training Program at the University of Michigan Addiction Research Center in Ann Arbor. He was investigating the relationships between suicidality, impulsivity and treatment outcomes in alcohol dependence. His next research project involved investigations on relationships between impulsive suicidality, electrophysiological and genetic markers in alcohol-dependent individuals.
Dr. Wojnar is an author or co-author of more than 180 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He took part in many congresses and scientific meetings where he presented more than 200 presentations. He was awarded with several awards from the President of the Medical University of Warsaw. He is an active member of the Polish Psychiatric Association, Vice-President of the European Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (ESBRA), and the founder and president of the Polish Society of Research on Addictions.
