2. Convergences in the neurobiology of behavioral addictions

Behavioral addictions include disorders like gambling disorder and (internet) gaming disorder that are included in nomenclature systems describing psychiatric disorders (DSM-5, ICD-11). Other constellations of behaviors generating problems or distress involving pornography use, shopping/buying, social media use or other behaviors may be considered as behavioral addictions. In this presentation, the neurobiologies of behavioral addictions will be considered with respect to other behavioral and substance addictions. Theoretical models will be considered when placing findings into context, and clinical implications (e.g., with respect to transdiagnostic measures and treatment outcomes) will be discussed.
