4. Meta-analysis of self-regulation discourses

Thursday, 24 November, 2022 - 15:00 to 16:30

Abstract

Studies across academic communities deal with the topic of self-regulation of gambling behaviour. However, a coherent overview offering an understanding of gambling discourses of self-regulation is lacking..

The study method applied is a systematic literature review. We present the gambling discourses of self-regulation through a sociological prism, nesting their research effort in the sociological theory of social fields. Such an approach distinguishes three aspects of self-regulation: self-regulation as a policy measure, self-regulation as a personal measure (or self-control), and self-regulation as a group measure implemented by the provider..

The results are interpreted through the social fields theory
