About

This session explores what a social, structural and systems analysis can tell us about drug-related deaths and the implications for policy and addiction science. Based on a series of research studies focusing on the wider environmental context of drug related deaths, the session considers the utility of a focus on substance use as the primary problem when substance use problems are constructed and embedded within broader social, structural and systems contexts; and deconstructs and reconstructs the 'problem' of addiction for better policy making.
